Obituary of Gene Arvin Currence
A funeral service will be held 11 AM Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Ed Lowther officiating. In honoring Karen’s wishes, she will be cremated after the services. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses. Online condolences may be made to the family at Poling-St.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Kimberly Gimmel. She is survived by one daughter, Brittany Pyles of Buckhannon; one son, Michael Pyles of Buckhannon; one grandson, Elijah Deming of Buckhannon and one brother, Andy Gimmel of WV. Karen was the 1st Assistant Manager at McDonald’s where she had worked for over 34 years. Friends will be received Thursday, October 6, 2022, from 5 to 9 PM at the Poling-St.

Gene Arvin Currence, age 81, of Buckhannon, WV, died Friday, December 16, 2022, at WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon. He was born January 6, 1941, in Hemlock, WV, a son of the late Elza and Freda Mazie Tenney Currence. On April 29, 1961, he married Lora Zickefoose who survives. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, infant Randall Gail Currence and Michael Gene Currence. Mr. Currence was a Coal Miner and a member of the Faith Baptist Church of Buckhannon. Friends will be received Tuesday, December 20, 2022, from 4 PM to 8 PM at Poling-St.
