For this recipe, you will need approximately 24 plums in order to make 2 gallons of wine. The process is relatively simple and only requires a few supplies that can be easily found at your local grocery store. The first step is to wash the plums and remove any stems or leaves. Once the fruit is clean, you will need to crush the plums in order to release their juice. This can be done by hand or with a food processor.
So to the guys that have been at this for a while, and really know your stuff, call BS on me. I just need to cut in and let you know something I’ve been editing this video and it turns it’s running over 25 minutes. You guys are awesome, but I can’t expect you to sit there and watch that.
Different Ways To Remove Alcohol From Drinks
No matter your preference, you can infuse your new batch with whatever flavor you wish. Anything can be infused and we mean that quite literally. If there is a flavor you enjoy, you can probably infuse your vodka with it.
Assuming you have access to all the equipment, then the hard part is over. A sugar wash isn’t only limited to the beginner distiller, advanced distillers swear by it because it yields a smooth neutral spirit. Most recipes are very straightforward and serve as an excellent basis to experiment with the craft – given you adhere to the tips mentioned in this post.
What Drinks Can I Mix With Vodka
To make your own vodka, start by heating water, flaked wheat, and crushed wheat malt in a 10-gallon pot to make a wheat mash base. After a couple of hours, cool the mash and let it sit overnight. Then, strain the mash into a food-grade bucket or carboy, and stir some distillers yeast into it to kick off the fermentation process. Once you've added the mash and yeast, attach an airlock to the top of the container so carbon dioxide can get out but oxygen can't get in.
One popular way to make non-alcoholic spirits is by using a product called Everclear. Everclear is a clear, distilled grain alcohol that is popular among bartenders and mixologists. It is important to note that Everclear is not the same as vodka, as it has a much higher proof (95% alcohol by volume).

I’ll stick a link up top to that video, if you want to check it out. And the reason I suggest those is that the both sugar washes. When you’re starting out sugar washers have a whole lot less to stress about. The fermentation process usually takes between one day to two weeks, it all depends on the base ingredient.
Drinking heads will leave you with the worst hangover of your life. Collecting the vodka distillateThe first 5% of your run are the foreshots. Foreshots contain methanol which is extremely volatile and toxic.
The bottle is beautiful and I love NZ so I had high hopes and boy did it deliver! The vodka had a pleasant scent which is something I don’t think I’ve ever said about a vodka. Broken Shed is full bodied, well balanced with a pleasant warm finish.
You need about 1.5 to 2 gallons (5.7 to 7.6 L) worth of space in a 7.5 gallon vessel. This allows room for the foam and gases that form during fermentation. If you don’t leave enough room, the pressure can build and pop the lid on the vessel, leading to contamination. When the temperature reaches 195F, cut from it and again label your bottles. The next 30% from this temperature is the sweet spot of the vodka.
It’s just not, it’s going to take lots of time to learn. If you just want to make cheap cuts to get drunk with buy T500 and follow the instructions on the box. I’m just saying that if you really want to take the next step and do a little more than that is going to take some research.
Siphon or carefully pour off the liquid into a glass carboy or other airtight container such as a cornelius keg. Leave the unwanted sediment behind in the fermentation vessel. You can also pour the liquid through a pad or membrane filter, such as a wine filter, to further clarify the liquid and remove residual yeast. These days, most infused vodka is made from a variety of ingredients, including wheat, barley, rye or corn.
If possible, avoid fermentation in an open bucket. Feel free to introduce your own ingredients to change and enhance the flavor of your vodka. Number two is the fast fermenting vodka or FFV, which is what I use to create this.
